| The Old Sungai Petani Railway Station(1983) |
The south bound track of the old Sungai Petani railway station, another place to remember and also childhood playground because it was only a stone throw to our living quarters, the police barrack. I still remember the railway gate keeper Mr.Wak Adenan, and the station master Mr Singh. I met him and seek his opinion on how to become a train driver. He smiled away, and in 1969 I my application was accepted by the KTM the office of Malayan Railway, Kuala Lumpur requesting for the apprenticship training at Sentul workshop. I did not turned up for the training as I was discouraged by him. I later learned that most apprentices became train engineers after several years of training.
